....kitty, kitty, kitty....
By now you've probably heard of the tiger attack at the SF Zoo. If you have not, then you should stop watching K-dramas all day long! Anyway, it's fascinating where things stand now. You have a dead person, a dead tiger, two injured adult males, speculations on how the tiger got out of the exhibit, and a freaking large criminal and civil lawsuit looming around the corner. I believe the three men had something to do with the tiger getting out of the pen. Perhapts they provoked/taunted the tiger and may have inadvertendly aided the tiger in getting out of the exhibit so in part they are to blame for their own injuries and for the death of one of them. However, I also don't think death is the appropriate punishment for what they did if in fact it is determined that that did something to cause the tiger to escape from the exhibit. The fact that the exhibit wall is a few feet shorter than the recommended height makes the SF Zoo liable and negligent. Perhaps it wouldn't have mattered anyway...in the sense that the tiger would somehow have jumped or climbed over the wall at even the recommended 16 or 18ft wall height. People shouldn't really focus on the wall height but on the idea that the SF Zoo has the "moral" responsibility to make sure that visitors in their facility are safe from wild animals and wild animals are safe from visitors. The SF Zoo obviously failed to do all they could to protect visitors from wild animals. Perhaps they should have built a wall that was 30ft in height. In hindsight, this probably looks like a good idea when you weight the $20+ million lawsuit against the $100,000 the SF Zoo would have spent on re-configuring the exhibit wall to a height of 30ft.
Hmm...interesting...I wonder if there really is a ground for a lawsuit here. Don't visitors assume all risks including death when they purchase tickets to go into the zoo? It's usually the case when you go skiing in the mountain or go into an amusement park, or even when you park your car in a public garage. Hmm?
So...who wants to go to the SF Zoo with me?
